Ian has been doing a lot of experimenting with his boat down in Aus trying different foil configurations for full foiling and round the cans stuff. Needless to say it’s looking pretty smooth!

Comes with 2 sets of PJ sails 2 carbon masts and stub gooseneck arrangement, 2 sets of daggerboards, 2 T foiled rudders, Hitec winch and all the radio gear and chargers needed to get started.

Mike Cooke made the best of this, keeping his Shinobi on its feet the most finishing on 10 points. Local boats Mike Dann and Mervyn Cook both finished on 14 points sailing their catamarans. Due to the conditions and the many rescues taking up valuable time only 5 races were sailed before stopping for lunch.

The Speedsailing took place after lunch and was won by Mike C who lucked out with a good puff on the run back down the lake finishing the 2 leg course in 3 minutes 10. Several visitors also got to experience multihull sailing and put some times on the scoreboard.

The full results for both days are being worked out this week and will be posted later on. Hopefully there are some more galleries to follow as several visitors were taking photos.

Local hero Mike Dann made the best of the day in his catamaran with a solid scoreline especially when the breeze got up and most of the rest of the fleet were upside down!

Mike Cooke from Bristol was runner up with his Shinobi trimaran, showing great pace but a short attention span had him upside down one too many times and arriving late didn’t help matters!

Robbie Nevitt from Yeovil took the bronze medal in his own design trimaran. Robbie was well up there in the lighter airs races at the start of the day and made sure the Mikes’ didn’t have things all their own way.

Special mention must go to Pete Lawley with the flat pack ply tri, who put in some excellent races in the lighter airs and showed some real promise.

Point to point race winner was Mike Dann, winning by one second from Mike Cooke!

The first day is the 29th October, followed by the 26th November.  Both days will need to be sailed, as the results will be worked out using all races over the two days (minus discards).  The days format will include both fleet racing and speed sailing.

It would be good to see you all there, to make the end on the 2011 season a really good one.

For none Gosport members there will be a prize for the top non club boat.
